Berlin Christmas Markets Tour

Explore the famous German Christmas Markets with an expert guide from Original Berlin Walks

Traditional treats, hand-made crafts and a tour full of stories and fun facts around German Christmas traditions and Berlin’s Christmas Markets

Join us on a festive journey through Berlin’s most iconic Christmas markets and historic landmarks. This atmospheric walking tour not only immerses you in the cozy glow of Berlin’s winter charm but also provides the perfect introduction to the city’s holiday traditions — complete with insider tips to make the most of your seasonal stay.

We begin our Christmas adventure in front of Starbucks at Hackescher Markt — a lively square surrounded by boutiques and cafés and the perfect spot to grab a warm coffee or hot chocolate before we set off. Tip: Just a few steps away, you’ll find the famous Käthe Wohlfahrt Christmas Shop — we highly recommend popping in before the tour starts to marvel at its dazzling array of traditional ornaments and handcrafted decorations.

Our first official stop is the impressive Humboldt Forum, located in the reconstructed Berlin City Palace. Here, you'll discover a charming hidden gem: a tucked-away winter market set against a fairytale backdrop of glittering lights — an ideal location for your first festive photo op!

As we stroll on, we’ll pass some of Berlin’s most famous landmarks: the TV Tower, Alexanderplatz, Neptunbrunnen, and the Rotes Rathaus (Red Town Hall). At the heart of this area lies one of Berlin’s most vibrant Christmas markets, featuring a giant Ferris wheel, ice-skating rink, and a lively holiday atmosphere framed by the historic skyline.

From there, we wander into the enchanting Nikolaiviertel — the cradle of Berlin. With its medieval-style houses, narrow cobblestone streets, and intimate Christmas market, it feels like stepping into a snow globe. Here, your guide will share fascinating stories about Berlin’s origins, German holiday traditions, and a few quirky seasonal facts. To warm your hands (and your heart), you'll also enjoy an included cup of hot mulled wine — or a non-alcoholic alternative, if you prefer — as you take in the sights.

Our festive finale brings us to the stunning Gendarmenmarkt, considered by many to be Berlin’s most beautiful Christmas market. With elegant white tents, sparkling lights, and grand architectural surroundings, this is the ultimate holiday highlight. After your guide’s introduction, you're welcome to continue exploring at your own pace (2 EUR entry fee not included) — whether browsing handcrafted goods, savouring seasonal delicacies, or sipping another Glühwein.

This tour offers much more than just a scenic walk — it’s your festive orientation to Berlin. With an overview of four unique Christmas markets, expert local guidance, plenty of photo opportunities, and fun historical insights, you’ll be ready to experience the magic of Berlin’s holiday season like a true Berliner.
